Our advisers’ expertise lies in the following areas:
- Cashflow planning and modelling
- Pension planning
- Inheritance tax and estate planning
An award-winning team dedicated to investment research.
We’ve been named Best Advisory Firm at the Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year Awards on two separate occasions. Our team is comprised of highly qualified individuals, all with relevant up-to-date knowledge who all specialise in particular asset classes and markets.
Formulating an appropriate asset allocation strategy and selecting the right investment company is critical to achieving your investment objectives.
Our investment management service can be delivered on an advisory or discretionary basis. The service most appropriate to you will depend on factors such as your level of investment knowledge, the time you have available to consider and respond to investment advice and the level of involvement you would like in day-to-day decision making.
Both investment services are built on the research undertaken by our award-winning Investment Research team, which is responsible for analysing the global economic environment, scrutinising asset valuations and understanding how and when different fund managers add value.
Advisory Investment Service
For clients who wish to be involved in ongoing investment decisions regarding their portfolio, our advisory investment service may be ideal. As an advisory client, it is your decision to choose whether to follow investment recommendations made to you. These recommendations are based on the analysis carried out by our Investment Research team, which your financial adviser will then consider within the context of your individual circumstances. This ensures the advice provided is completely tailored to you.
Communication and Reporting
Your financial adviser will be responsible for reporting on the performance of your investments against agreed benchmarks. They will be proactive in staying up to date with any changes affecting your financial situation and will also keep you informed of relevant economic or legislative changes likely to impact your financial strategy.
Advisory clients often wish to meet with their financial planner every six to twelve months for a detailed review and discussion of their portfolio. However, our service is aligned to each client’s requirements, enabling you to maintain a level of communication that you deem appropriate.
Discretionary Management Service
If you wish to benefit from the Saunderson House investment proposition and have an investment expert manage your portfolio, our discretionary management service may be well suited to you. Our discretionary management service enables you to delegate the management of your investments to us. This includes adjustments in asset allocation and fund selection as well as day-to-day portfolio administration. Your portfolio manager will work on your behalf to respond to market movements and make timely changes to your investment portfolio without your involvement. By working with your financial adviser, your portfolio manager will obtain a comprehensive understanding of your investment needs. With these factors captured within an investment mandate, they will construct and manage a portfolio of investments that may be held within a combination of pension, ISA, JISA or general investment accounts.
Communication and Reporting
We provide you with a comprehensive valuation report every six months (or more frequently on request), which ensures you receive clear and straightforward information about your investments. This report includes a statement of your investment holdings, their current value, transactions performed, contributions and withdrawals made and a range of useful investment information including investment performance.

“One of the most thorough of firms researching the investment markets … it feels like they have aligned their clients’ needs with the way I’m trying to manage money.”
Fund Manager – Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year Awards 2013
Our approach to financial planning takes a view of your overall financial position with the aim of determining the most appropriate route to achieving your defined goals.
Using cashflow planning, we project the potential value of your assets and income over time. This provides context for devising long-term plans to show, for example, the required investment provision for retirement or the value of assets to be gifted as part of an estate planning exercise. By regularly updating these plans we can keep you on track to achieving your goals.
On many occasions our work has demonstrated to clients that they have achieved financial independence and can afford to retire, when they had previously believed retirement was some years away.
“I wish I had met them years ago. It is really good to have advisers of this quality, in whom one can have complete confidence.”
Retired Partner – City Accountancy firm
The legislation covering the tax benefits of pension contributions, investment funds and ultimate benefits is complex.
Whether you are a long way off retirement or have already started drawing on your pension, our knowledge and long experience allows us to help you plan more effectively.
“I am extremely satisfied with the management and performance of my personal pension investments and integration of the overall financial planning following my retirement.”
Former director, FTSE 100 company
Estate planning is an important part of long-term financial planning. Our recommendations will depend on your priorities. Estate planning includes:
- Life cover to protect your estate
- Gifting strategies to transfer assets to children, grandchildren, others or charity
- Pensions – when to draw and how best to do so
- Inheritance tax efficient investments.
Using long-term cashflow models, we demonstrate the effect and affordability of a gifting strategy. From this we help you formulate a long-term plan and work with you to implement it, alongside your legal/tax advisers.
