We are delighted to announce that our newly elected, official charity partner for 2017-18 is Teenage Cancer Trust. The partnership will see the firm’s fundraising and volunteering activities primarily revolve around the charity, to help transform the lives of young people with cancer in and around London.
Seven young people aged 13-24 are diagnosed with cancer every day. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving their quality of life and chances of survival. The charity funds and builds specialist units in NHS hospitals and provides dedicated staff, bringing young people together for treatment by teenage cancer experts.
Traditionally treated alongside children or elderly patients at the end of their lives, young people can feel extremely isolated, some never meeting another young person with cancer. Being treated alongside others their own age can make a huge difference to their experience. The charity works to ensure every young person with cancer has access to this specialist support.
The charity was chosen through Saunderson House’s staff nomination and shortlist vote process. Discussing the partnership, Katie Tyler – Teenage Cancer Trust Regional Fundraiser, remarked: “We are delighted to have been chosen to partner with Saunderson House, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to all staff who voted for us. We are looking forward to all the exciting opportunities that the partnership will bring and to ultimately raise more money for young people with a cancer diagnosis.”
Alice Chamberlain, Marketing Coordinator at Saunderson House, commented on the newly confirmed partnership: “Saunderson House is delighted to be officially partnered with Teenage Cancer Trust for 2017-18. This is a fantastic opportunity for our employees to support a valuable and important cause. We are looking forward to working with Teenage Cancer Trust to raise funds and support voluntary activities, to help impact the lives of young people supported by the charity.“
Saunderson House was previously partnered with Action for Children for 2015-16. Throughout the partnership the firm raised a total c£31,500, donated voluntary hours, and helped the charity by providing networking and business coaching skills sessions and use of our office meeting rooms.
