We are delighted to announce that our official charity partner is Parkinson’s UK.

The partnership will see our fundraising and volunteering activities primarily revolve around the charity, to help support the charity in its efforts to improve life for people with Parkinson’s and ultimately find a cure for the condition.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition for which there is currently no cure. The number of people living with Parkinson’s in the UK is about 145,000. That’s around 1 adult in every 350. The main symptoms of the condition are tremor, slowness of movement and rigidity. Parkinson’s UK is the UK’s leading charity supporting those with the condition. Its mission is to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s through cutting edge research, information, support and campaigning.

The charity was chosen through Saunderson House’s staff nomination and shortlist vote process.

Tony Wellby, Director and Chair of Saunderson House’s Make a Difference Committee, commented, “I am delighted that staff members at Saunderson House have overwhelmingly selected Parkinson’s UK as our charity partner.  Many of our staff and clients have a friend or family member who has been directly or indirectly affected by Parkinson’s and so they are acutely aware of the debilitating effects it can have on sufferers, as well as those around them.

We are very much looking forward to supporting Parkinson’s UK with resources, energy and our expertise in helping them further their quest to improve the lives of everyone affected by Parkinson’s, and to ultimately find a cure.”

Tom Ingram, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Parkinson’s UK, said, “It’s fantastic that Saunderson House have chosen Parkinson’s UK as their charity partner. We’re really looking forward to working with the organisation, and the money they raise will help to fund our free and confidential helpline which supports people with Parkinson’s. We couldn’t do our work without the support from our corporate partners like Saunderson House, and we’re very grateful.”

Saunderson House was previously partnered with Teenage Cancer Trust for 2017-18.
