Job Title: Trainee Investment Analyst

Reports to: Investment Director

 

1. Role Specification

Key Purpose of Role

To work as part of the Investment Research Team developing and delivering asset allocation and fund selection recommendations to the firm’s high net worth clients via the firm’s advisers or directly.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of outstanding financial advice on investments, pension planning, inheritance tax and estate planning, in an efficient manner
  • Support Client Relationship Manager and Senior Financial Planners/Financial Planners to execute client relationship strategy
  • Support the Client Relationship Manager and Senior Financial Planners/Financial Planners, to maintain strong relationships with clients, driving engagement and positive client outcomes
  • To always ensure that the work undertaken complies with the regulatory and legal environment

Main Duties

 

Client Service Delivery (Value – Make it Happen)

  • To support the Investment Manager/Investment Analyst in developing and communicating, in written form, views on the economy, investment outlook and asset allocation recommendations for client reports
  • To support the Investment Manager/Investment Analyst in undertaking fund research to produce recommendations on collective investments such as OEICs, unit trusts and investment trusts

 

Achieve Good Client Outcomes (Value – Lead from the Front)

  • To support the Investment Manager/Investment Analyst when meeting with fund managers and to write up formal research notes and recommendations

 

Working as a Team (Value – Working Together)

  • To attend internal meetings
  • To oversee administrative activities required to support the Investment Research Team and Saunderson House advisers

 

Conduct (Value – Be the Difference)

  • To actively promote SHL values and behaviours to ensure good client outcomes and meet our conduct responsibilities
  • To ensure technical knowledge is up to date and shared with the team as appropriate
  • To maintain any CPD requirements for the role
  • To ensure work produced complies with the regulatory and legal environment

 

2. Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Minimum of a 2:1 degree or equivalent qualification
  • Competent with Excel and Word
